Ramadan 2024: Ramadan, the ninth and holiest month of the Islamic calendar, is going on. This month is a month of righteousness and worship for Muslims, which is very important. People associated with the religion of Islam believe that all the doors of heaven are opened in the month of Ramadan. Therefore, every prayer made this month is also fulfilled.
All Muslims around the world keep fast in the month of Ramadan. Because fasting is a duty for Muslims. In Islam, people who do not fast during the month of Ramadan are considered as Gunah-e-Kabira i.e. a sin for which there is no forgiveness. Allah has said to His servants – Fasting is only for Me and I myself will give the reward of fasting to My servants.
Who can fast?
According to the religion of Islam, all those who are 7 years of age or older can fast in the month of Ramadan. But children below 7 years of age, elderly people, pregnant women, sick people or those who are successful are exempted from fasting. In these situations, Allah forgives those who do not fast.
Important rules related to fasting
Regarding the rules related to fasting, there is a question in the mind of most of the fasting people that due to these mistakes committed knowingly or unknowingly, the fast can be broken and which cannot. Let us know due to which mistakes one can break the fast.
Fasting becomes Makruh by doing these things
- It is said in Islam that fasting is not just about being hungry and thirsty. Therefore, during fasting, a person should stay away from all such activities which are considered prohibited in Islam.
- Along with keeping distance from food and drink, fasting people should also avoid saying and listening to wrong things during the fast. At this time, do not do anything that may harm anyone and do not say anything that may break anyone’s heart.
- Many people feel that if they accidentally put some food or drink in their mouth during fasting, their fast will be broken. but it’s not like that. If you accidentally eat or drink something during the fast, it does not break the fast.
- Even if someone pours water on the head to avoid excessive heat, the fast does not break. In fact, you can also take bath during fasting. But keep in mind that water should not go down the throat even by mistake.
Fast can be broken due to these mistakes
- During fasting, one should not use medicine put in nose, ears or eyes. Because eyes, ears and nose are related to the throat. When you put the medicine, it will reach your throat and may break your fast.
- During the fast, if the fasting person deliberately swallows saliva to moisten the throat, then the fast is also broken. But if the spit from inside the mouth goes into the throat, it does not break the fast.
- During fasting, having physical relations, smoking, chewing paan and eating tobacco etc. also breaks the fast.
Difference between breaking the fast and being Makruh
There is a significant difference between breaking the fast and being Makruh. Fasting being considered Makruh is that due to which fasting is considered acceptable but does not yield the virtuous results of fasting. For example, things like wearing wet clothes while fasting, getting teeth removed, deliberately spitting in the mouth, hurrying in Iftar etc. do not break the fast, but the fast becomes Makruh.
